Collision by David Crowder Band - Physical
David Crowder*Band's latest, A Collision, is a multifaceted and interwoven tale of the mystery and beauty of that instant when the divinity of God smacks head on into the depravity of man. More than a collection of songs, the album [the band's third full-length release on sixstepsrecords] is a musical journey, inviting the listener to consider and celebrate what God has done. The raucous "We Win!" and the punkish "Foreverandever, Etc..." live happily side-by-side with the searching Sufjan Stevens's cover of "O God Where Are You Now?" In between, there's more than enough for everyone's musical tastes as Crowder seamlessly weaves together varied styles that offer more than one unexpected turn. A Collision, born in the Dr. Pepper barn studio that the Crowders call home, opens with the poignant declaration, "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven, But Nobody Wants to Die," and nears the finish with the sweeping "Rescue Is Coming," a song Crowder fans have heard in live events in recent months. Bluegrass meets DC*B in "I Saw The Light" and "Be Lifted or Hope Rising" as a rowdy hoe-down erupts, while massive rock anthems "You Are My Joy" and "Come Awake" breathe with robust intensity. Crowder classic "Come and Listen" sets the pace early on, followed by the electronically treated "Here Is Our King" and the melodic acoustic confession "Wholly Yours." An unfolding story told in four segments and 21 Tracks, A Collision is vintage Crowder, while reaching still for new heights of worship. A Part 1.
